Alan Davidson

Alan Davidson is a Senior Advisor at Mozilla, the maker of open source software including the Firefox web browser.
He was previously Mozilla’s Vice President of Global Policy, Trust and Security. Alan has over 20 years of experience as an executive and attorney working at the intersection of Internet technology, public policy, and business. He served in the Obama Administration as the first Director of Digital Economy at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Alan started Google’s public policy office in Washington D.C. and built its policy operation, leading government relations and policy in North and South America for seven years. He has also held non-profit leadership roles as the Director of New America’s Open Technology Institute and earlier as Associate Director of the Center for Democracy and Technology. Alan holds an S.B. in mathematics with computer science from MIT, an S.M. from MIT’s Technology and Policy Program, and was a Trustee of the MIT Corporation as a young alumnus. He is a graduate of the Yale Law School and a member of the DC Bar.
