MIT IDE co-director, Andrew McAfee, jumped into the fray over EU regulatory oversight of technology at the recent Digital. Design. Life (DLD) Summer conference.
McAfee said that because he wants to see Europe gain ground in the Second Machine Age, he is “firmly on the side of permission-less innovation” where businesses can try new ideas unfettered from bureaucratic oversight. He is concerned that Europe is heading in the opposite direction: “upstream governance” with government oversight, regulation, and control.
