In 2023, our research team doubled down on efforts to analyze, test, forecast and discuss AI advancements and challenges.
In the eight years since the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy began its research efforts, digital technologies have transformed society, business and the economy, creating the internet-everything world we know today. AI is firmly in the transformative category and the potential is vast. That’s why our research efforts are zooming in on this rising tide. We continue to stay both vigilant and cutting-edge; studying both the opportunities as well as the risks.
It was a busy year in all eight of our research groups, with record numbers of academic papers, in-person and virtual events, and collaboration with students and peers.
